Community Care
Community Care has been part of Grace Charity Foundation’s mission since its earliest years. Originally established as the Poverty Alleviation Group, the programme focused on providing practical assistance to individuals and families facing financial hardship in remote communities.
As volunteers travelled to mountainous regions to carry out school construction and educational aid projects, they also encountered many people in need of additional support : including orphans, children from low-income families, elderly people living alone, and other vulnerable members of the community.
As living standards in many rural areas improved and poverty reduction initiatives progressed, the Foundation broadened the scope of its work. In 2012, the programme was renamed Community Care to better reflect its wider mission of supporting people through compassion, practical assistance and community engagement.
Today, the programme provides financial assistance, essential supplies and emergency relief, while volunteers continue to visit communities in person to offer encouragement and companionship to those in need.
Our Mission
At Grace Charity Foundation, we believe that even small acts of kindness can make a meaningful difference.
While the assistance we provide may not solve every challenge faced by those in need, we hope it brings comfort, encouragement and hope. More importantly, we believe that kindness inspires kindness, creating a lasting spirit of compassion and mutual support within our communities.
Who We Support
1. Orphans, Students from Low-income Families and Students with Disabilities Financial assistance is provided to eligible students following verification by their schools. Whenever possible, Grace Charity volunteers personally deliver the support each year, allowing them to meet students and better understand their circumstances.
2. Caring for the Elderly
Many elderly people living in remote rural communities are widowed, living alone, or require additional care and support.
Grace Charity volunteers regularly visit villages and residential care homes in Guizhou, Yunnan, Gansu, Sichuan and Ningxia, providing companionship as well as practical assistance such as living allowances, blankets, food, medicinal oil and other daily necessities.
For many elderly beneficiaries, these visits are just as meaningful as the material support they receive.
3. Disaster Relief
When natural disasters affect communities, Grace Charity responds by providing emergency assistance to help families recover. Depending on local needs, this may include financial support, emergency supplies and other essential relief aimed at reducing the immediate impact on affected communities.
4. Teacher Training
Grace Charity also supports teachers by providing financial assistance for professional development and specialised training, helping them enhance their knowledge and skills for the benefit of their students.
*Former Programme: Support for Substitute Teachers
In the past, Grace Charity provided living allowances to substitute teachers who received very low wages and often lacked formal employment benefits.
This programme was discontinued in 2016 following changes to the education system and improvements in teacher support.
