Educational Aid
Education has been at the heart of Grace Charity Foundation’s mission since its establishment. Even before the Foundation was officially registered, volunteers travelled to remote mountainous regions in mainland China, where they discovered that many children were unable to attend school because their families could not afford even modest tuition fees. At that time, some children had never received any formal education.
To help these children access schooling, volunteers launched an educational sponsorship programme, providing financial assistance to students from low-income families. Following the Foundation’s establishment in 2000, this initiative became one of Grace Charity’s core programmes and has continued to evolve in response to changing educational needs.
Our Mission
Grace Charity Foundation believes that Education has the Power to Transform Lives.
By supporting students in remote and underprivileged communities, we aim to provide opportunities that enable them to pursue their education, broaden their horizons, and build brighter futures. We hope that, as they progress in life, they will in turn contribute positively to their communities and help create opportunities for future generations.
Who We Support
Since the introduction of China’s nine-year compulsory education policy in 2007, Grace Charity Foundation has shifted its focus from supporting primary and junior secondary students to assisting students pursuing senior secondary, vocational, teacher-training, and university education.
In 2020, the Educational Aid programme was also expanded to support students in northern Thailand.
How the Programme Works
Applicants are nominated through their schools. Each application is carefully assessed based on the student’s financial circumstances, academic performance, and personal conduct.
The Foundation provides two types of scholarships:
- One-time Scholarships
Students apply annually for financial assistance. Whenever possible, Grace Charity volunteers personally visit schools to present the scholarships and meet with the recipients.
2. Continuing Scholarships
Long-term scholarships support university students throughout their four- or five-year degree programmes. Before approval, applicants receive a home visit conducted either by their school or by a Grace Charity Foundation volunteer to better understand their family circumstances.
Our Impact
From 2000 to the 2026, Grace Charity Foundation has contributed more than HK$200 million in educational assistance, benefiting over 95,000 students through one-time and continuing scholarships.
Looking Ahead
One of the Foundation’s greatest rewards is seeing former scholarship recipients give back to society. Many graduates who once received educational support have since established successful careers and now actively contribute to fundraising efforts to help future generations of students pursue their education.
Their generosity reflects the lasting impact of educational support and helps continue a cycle of compassion, opportunity, and hope.
