Love from Hong Kong compatriots for school children

in the mountainous villages in Guizhou Province

A donation of new shoes for children at Xiuwen County and Xifeng County, Guiyang, was made by Dadili，Chen Yi and Dr. Kong Footwear Limited from Hong Kong on November 20 and 28 respectively.

The donation was initiated by the Commission of Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan, Overseas Chinese and External Affairs, facilitated by Grace Charity Foundation Limited and made possible by three shoe companies in Hong Kong. A total of 405 pairs of shoes, each costing over HKD200, amounted to a total donation of nearly HKD100,000. Out of the total donation, 203 pairs of shoes went to Liu Tong Village School and Da She Central School at Xiuwen County while the other 202 pairs went to Liu Chang Village School and Lu Wo Village Central School at Xifeng County.

Vice Chairman Xu Xueren requested the schools to distribute the shoes to the most needy and let the love from Hong Kong and Macau compatriots be felt. This is a task that has to be accomplished in a practical manner. With the donation, children will be brought up with a sense of gratitude and would be taught to feedback to society with benevolence in the future. Love would then be carried on from generation to generation.

“Shoes have a price but love doesn’t,” said the children at Xiuwen and Xifeng County in expressing their heart-felt thankfulness to the shoe donors. With winter coming, these shoes would warm their bodies as well as their hearts. The love from the Hong Kong donors will spread among the children and their families. The children promised to work hard in order to make themselves deserve the love from Hong Kong compatriots.
